ChemistryGo is run by one person, Michael Goldsmith, a sole proprietor based in New Jersey, United States. There is no support desk and no ticket queue. Mail sent to the address above reaches a real inbox, and most messages get a reply within a few days. Messages reporting a wrong answer are dealt with first.

Reporting a calculation error

This is the most useful thing you can write to us about. A reference tool that is quietly wrong does more harm than one that does not exist, so these reports get priority over every other kind of message. To make a report actionable, please include:

• Which calculator you were using, and the exact inputs you entered.
• The result the site gave you.
• The result you expected, and where that expected value came from, such as a textbook, a worked example, or a different tool.

The last point matters more than it might seem. Many reported discrepancies turn out to be a difference in assumptions rather than an error, such as a weak acid treated as strong, a temperature other than 25 degrees Celsius, or a different convention for significant figures. Knowing your source lets us tell the difference quickly, and if the page's assumptions were unclear, that is a documentation bug we will fix.

Suggesting a calculator

If there is a calculation you keep doing by hand and wish were here, tell us. Suggestions that describe the specific problem you are trying to solve are far more likely to result in a good tool than a one word topic. Requests that come from teaching a course, and that mention where students reliably get stuck, are especially welcome.

Classroom and educational use

You are welcome to link to ChemistryGo from a syllabus, a course page, or a worksheet without asking permission. Teachers and lecturers who want to use the explanatory text on a page in their own materials should get in touch and say what they need. We are generally happy to agree to reasonable educational reuse, but the terms of use apply by default and permission for republishing needs to be asked for rather than assumed.

Privacy questions and data requests

Requests to access or delete personal data go to the same address. Please note that the site holds very little: there are no accounts, and the only records that could relate to you are ordinary web server log lines. If your request concerns those, include the approximate dates and the IP address involved, because without them there is no way to locate the entries. Our privacy policy explains what is collected and why.

What we cannot help with

We cannot do your homework, check an assignment before you submit it, or advise on whether a procedure is safe to carry out. Questions about laboratory safety should go to your instructor, your institution's safety officer, or the safety data sheet for the substance involved. Please do not send confidential or unpublished research data; there is no need, and email is not a secure channel for it.

Advertising on ChemistryGo is served through Google AdSense, so we do not sell placements directly and cannot accept sponsored posts or paid links. Other commercial enquiries can be sent to the address above, though replies to these are slower than replies about the chemistry.
